I just had my surgery last Monday but I wanted to to wish you luck on your journey.  Hopefully you will find someone that is just starting their journey.

Good luck

Good luck, you are in great hands with Dr. Toder.  I had my gastric bypass last Monday and she was my surgeon.  I too have younger kids and missed them terribly but I called them every night that I was gone.  I might have been a bit out of it but I still called them. LOL  I was in the hospital for 2 nights.  Walking is the key to getting home sooner. LOL  I walked my butt off to get home.  I am not going to lie and say it has been a piece of cake but you will get thru it. LOL  Just keep on the nurses to keep on top of your pain. Every day it gets better.  Hopefully you will have a good support system when you get home.  This will be your schedule, rest, sip, bathroom, walk and repeat. LOL  You basically have this for your first week.  Towards the end of that first week you can do a few more things.  Good luck.

Tomorrow is the big day, the day I have been waiting for for 11 months. I will be arriving at EMMC tomorrow morning at 6:30am to prepare for my 8:15am surgery time with Dr. Toder. When I began this journey 11 months ago I was planning on a gastric bypass, it was not until I met with Dr. Toder in August that my mind was changed. Dr. Toder really pushed for me to consider a gastric sleeve, with a lot of research and talks I agreed....however Anthem disagreed. After spending close to 5 months battling Anthem and 3 full appeals I was finally granted approval!!! So now here it is, my big day. Tomorrow at 8:15am Dr. Michelle Toder will be doing a gastric sleeve procedure on me. I was not able to sleep last night as my mind is both excited but also nervous. I am nervous about the pain, the procedure and most of all being away from my babies (ages 5 and 7). I have spent many hours researching, talking and thinking and know this is the best decision and this is a tool I need. Please keep me in your thoughts/prayers as I gear up for my big day. Thanks, Sasha

The Beck Diet solution weight loss workbook by Judith S. Beck.

I love this book and find it to be helpful with the brain game. Since they only operated on the belly not the brain, but the brain still wants to be in control!

Hey Deb,

I was wondering if you could tell me the name of that book again? The one with the cards that you have taped everywhere!?!? I want to check it out!

Thanks,

Kristie

Thanks I was feeling pretty depressed that evening, after my visit with the nutritionist. I am now going to the pool at P.E.A.K. and working out in the weight room doing a water walking class , walking laps on my own, and then coming home and walking the dog two miles. I am also trying to follow th book they gave me but I don't eat half of the stuff they use as examples so I find it hard to do exactly as they say.

I am going to lose this weight even if it's at a slower pace than they want it will come off!!!

Hi my name is Jess, and i know some of you i started my journey 2 yrs ago. made it to pre op before surgery then found out 4 days before surgery i was prenant. So here I am starting all over again. This time is going to be different. I am actually going to try and lose the weight. I have lost 5lbs alrdy.  Before I was not ready for this, but since I have Mainecare for insurance I have to do 6mos of NUT visits. So here I go! I was just wondering if there was anyone else just starting out that wanted to work together, (be motivators for each other)! I have a wonderful Man but I need someone who knows what it feels like to have to be this way.  I am going to CMMC but they only have meetings once a  month! (which sucks) should be once a week! but anyway everytime I go to those meetings there are not alot of people. I would just love to meet more people that want to start over like I do.  And for all those that have been through this journey... you look awesome!

Thank you Kristi for wheeling me down to the support group.  It was awesome meeting you.  I walked my hiney off at the hospital so I was able to go home today.  Still trying to figure out my pouch.  My belly has been making lots of noise.  They had me try some vanilla instant breakfast and I was able to have amout 2 oz's of that but that was in about 45 to 1 hour.  I just took  my time drinking it.  Just sips here and there.  At lunch time they had me try tomatoe soup.  I had a few tiny spoon fulls and my pouch got a little grumpy from that so i told them I wold not eat anymore of that and told them to bring me down somemore instant breakfast.. I drank about 1 oz of that.  Supper I had 1 oz of protein shake.  Not too certain that my ouch liked that much.  I think it is still debating. LOL

Hi Patty,

I went last night and wanted to catch you. I was wondering if you could tell me about your asthma? I have pretty severe asthma and am hoping that the weight loss will help control it better although no one I have talked to so far seems to know much about it. Any advice/information you can share would be helpful!

Kimkel was released today and is doing well!

See you at the next support group!

Thanks,

Kristie

I went for a 4.6 mile walk/jog last night OUTSIDE!  It was so great to be outdoors again.
